There are 2 technologies that use
electrical energy and 2 ways of providing energy
Using Energy:
- The LED lighting is a bright white light in a flexible short strip
that directs light for reading on either side of the head of the bed,
and above the ladder for safety at night in using the ladder and seeing
what may be below.
- The Dielectric Membrane
heater is a special thermal heater that operates with only a timer and
uses 12W of power (1 Amp at 12V approx). It will elevate the
temperature BELOW the mattress to approx 40 degrees c and this heat
will slowly radiate through the mattress accross the floor. It is not a
complete heater at this modest power but it will keep the mattress dry
and will pre-heat the bed for warmth.
Providing Energy:
- The Solar
Panel provides 0.1A of power at 13V and will trickle charge the 7Ah
battery. It will also keep the battery at an elevated voltage to
minimise sulphation. It has a visible flashing LED to indicate it is
charging
- A 3m extension cable with a
male and female cigarette adaptor either end will connect the battery
to the vehicle cigarette lighter outlet. This will charge the battery
whilst driving or provide additional power source for the heater for
constant heating all night. Note that on some vehicles, the cigarette
adpator is isolated when the ignition power is off.
